Day In The Life

This task was slightly more challenging to me as I’ve never done storyboarding and filming before. I was more used to doing things post-production rather the actual production of the video. The brief had been simple, create a story where it is featuring one student of PSB and how their life is whilst studying in the campus. One of our teammates had a friend from a different degree and she was fine with helping us out for this video.

The storyboarding session was relatively easy, not what I had initially thought, mainly because my other teammates had experience filming a video. What was tricky was filming the actual shots and recording the audio. We borrowed a few equipment from the school and used them for our video. Thankfully, the equipment wasn’t too complicated to use, the only one that had caused us a problem was the recording booth. We had to struggle with the controls in the booth, as I’ve never used it before and my teammates had only used it a few months ago. Their memories were a bit rusty but we managed to figure out the controls.

Filming the scenes for the video was extremely fun. We had hijacked into our classroom whilst the rest of our classmates were doing their work and that created a perfect backdrop scene for our footage. We even managed to grab a few of our friends to be part of the filming process, either as extras or to help us gauge whether the shot was symmetrical. We had asked in advance if we were a bother for them but they didn’t seem to mind.

Overall, I found myself enjoying the filming process. The friend that we had brought down to help out was super nice and I managed to learn how to use the controls in the recording booth. It felt almost like I was an actual radio podcaster.
